What was meant to be a fun getaway for his entire family (including all the wives and children) quickly turned sour after Musa scolded MaKhumalo for wearing what he deemed inappropriate. He told her: “I always tell you about respecting yourself. I tell you every day to carry yourself like a wife. I can’t have a situation like this. This thing is see-through.”
Unacceptable behaviour
MaKhumalo mentioned that she and her husband always argue about her outfits. She explained what made Musa uncomfortable about what she was wearing. “You know when you’re wearing something black, made from a stretchy material and it seemingly becomes a bit transparent in the sun. He says my outfit shows the skin of my thighs.”
Musa made it clear that no wife of his would expose her body for the entire world to see. “I shouldn’t be the one who reminds you of what your position is. Every day I’m forced to remind you. Every day,” he shouted at her.
This obviously didn’t sit well with MaKhumalo and we understand why. Musa could have handled the situation a bit better. “You know when you’re going to shout at me in front of other wives, I feel so small like he is somehow causing a spectacle,” MaKhumalo said.
MaKhumalo hurt by Musa’s words
Meanwhile, Musa is adamant that he’s not going to tolerate her mistakes just because she’s young, because he believes that “a wife must be a wife”.
It seems he has a whole lot of ideas of what a wife should be like and what she should do. “My argument is that she should’ve thought about me before she bought those pants. She should have also thought about how she comes across as a woman.”
MaKhumalo, who was clearly embarrassed, shared that she didn’t appreciate the way her husband dealt with the matter.
“I’m emotional. I cry when I am upset, so it’s best if I go home and cry there. I’m not fine anymore because of how he handled the whole situation. I was not aware that my pants were as transparent as he says. The only thing I remember was to cover my bum, so I can look respectable,” she explained.
