Musa Mseleku is on a crusade to teach people about polygamy. Since the first season of Uthando Nes’thembu, the reality TV star has been educating viewers on the ins and outs of a polygamous marriage. Although some don’t necessarily agree with his way of life, Musa doesn’t seem too bothered.
A lesson on polygamy
He recently visited an expert on culture, relationships and marriage, money and mental health. He explained on the latest episode of the show: “I’m here to talk to someone who is not in a polygamous marriage. Secondly, a person that I’m certain won’t support something that is not right, nor would he say something right is wrong.”
They spoke in great detail and made a few things clear about polygamy. The expert shared that reasons for wanting a second wife should not be motivated by sexual desires and also shouldn’t be based on having a fallout with your first wife.
So, what process did Musa follow when he decided to take more wives? As revealed on the show, he had a discussion with his first wife, MaCele. They agreed on some terms and conditions, however, it looks like Musa isn’t meeting his end of their deal. During a conversation with her, she confronted him about the things that are making her uncomfortable.
MaCele feels neglected
“When we first discussed you wanting a polygamous marriage, you asked for more than one wife and we agreed on a number of things. I had the freedom to express what I could and couldn’t cope with. I had the choice to express what I can tolerate and cannot in relation to you,” she told her him. She added that she’s now realised that things aren’t going the way they had agreed on, and that he seems to have forgotten some things.
“I’m saying that, even if you’re planning on taking another wife or having a wedding, I want you to accommodate me. And check in, to see if we’re still on the same page.”
MaCele had a lot to get off her chest. “So, I don’t like it when it feels as if when you’re growing your family, my home must be neglected.”
He acknowledged his mistakes and added that he wouldn’t have been a polygamist if it wasn’t for MaCele. He then dropped a bomb!
“I wanted to marry a Khumalo woman, even if she’s not related to MaKhumalo for her to bear children and help her ‘sister’.”
MaKhumalo, who is one of Musa’s wives, is unable to have children. So, now he thinks it would be a great idea to marry a woman from the Khumalo clan. Does this even make sense?
Musa is really bringing out all the drama this season. What is he going to get up to next? Watch Uthando Nes’thembu S1-4 now available to binge on Showmax.
