If anyone told us that Zweli’s second marriage wouldn’t last, we would have believed that. Seriously, we know how things work on The River, especially when Lindiwe is involved. We’ve seen it before with Gail and fast-forward to a year later, the pain of losing a wife visited Zweli once again.
His eldest daughter Nomonde came to help him deal with the heart-break, but she also found herself experiencing a pain of her own. How did it all happen? Well, we’ll gladly fill you in.
Honeymoon from hell
Can Zweli exist without Lindiwe? Not really. While he was determined to start a new life with the new lady in his life, Nyakallo, things didn’t go quite as planned for the police commissioner. Zweli and Nyakallo’s happily ever after seemed like a possibility after they tied the knot, with the new bride excited about her role as his second wife. However, she revealed her true colours to Lindiwe shortly after the wedding and showed that she was only after his money.
Lindiwe was not going to just sit around and let another woman destroy what she had built for years. So, in true Madlabantu fashion, she secretly tagged along to the newlyweds’ honeymoon on the Blue Train. Zweli and his makoti didn’t really enjoy their honeymoon because Lindiwe was messing with Nyakallo’s mind.
Things got so bad that Zweli suggested that they get off the train and go home. He even wanted to take her to a doctor. “I don’t need a doctor. I’ll get back to my old self… We’ll make up for missing our honeymoon,” Nyakallo told her husband. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen. After days of torture, Lindiwe got to Nyakallo, tied her up and gave her a piece of her mind.
“I gave you the scullery, but you wanted the whole kitchen. You know what your problem is? You’re forward… The nice thing is that I’m not just going to kill you, I’m going to have a lot of fun killing you,” she said.
Before killing her, she sent a text message to Zweli using Nyakallo’s phone. She wrote a touching and emotional message and made it look like a suicide note from Nyakallo. She then killed her and threw her out of the train. Zweli found her lying in a pool of blood.
Nomonde comes to her father’s rescue
Zweli once again found himself nursing a broken heart. Fortunately for him, he didn’t have to do this alone as his beloved daughter Nomonde came to help him through the process. Zweli’s eldest daughter came at the right time. Not only did she manage to comfort Zweli, but she also unexpectedly found herself a new man.
She met Sizwe Hadebe at a local bar. Nomonde overheard him talking about his business ventures, private jet and international trips. She was sold. They had a brief chat and sparks were flying. Nomonde loves the soft life and there’s no way she was about to let this one go. However, she didn’t know that her prince charming’s just a scammer whose real name is Mabutho Dlomo.
For weeks, Mabutho swept Nomonde off her feet and got her wrapped around his finger. It’s no doubt that his pocket was suffering during this time, but he was willing to go all out to impress the lady of his dreams. Nomonde fell very hard.
Emma humiliates Nomonde
Her happiness was short-lived. Emma, who’s been sour since Nomonde came back to town, wanted to do nothing but destroy Nomonde. She was jealous of all the attention Nomonde received from the family and the fact that she got herself a nice job at Khanyisa Diamonds.
On the day Nomonde was introduced to the staff as the head of a new department, Emma came up with a plan to humiliate her in front of everyone. After Nomonde made her speech, Emma took the spotlight and made a shocking revelation. “There’s someone here who’s really proud of you for all you have done. Mabutho, reveal yourself,” Emma said.
Mabutho showed up dressed in his mining gear. “I’m sure you would like to thank Nomonde for the great work she’s done.” Nomonde couldn’t believe her eyes. How could Sizwe, we mean Mabutho, do this to her?
