It was another episode for us to watch a relationship fall apart and this time around it’s Kgomotso Mothobi from Witpoortjie who is ready to dump his partner, Refilwe. Let’s just say that Lerato Mvelase needed to be mentally prepared for this one!
Why Kgomotso is leaving
Things began on a really good note between these two. They met when they were young, they fell in love, they enjoyed watching movies and Refilwe believed that she was wife material. The couple went as far as having a child and moving in together, and they could have had more, until Refilwe admitted that she “let him down”.
One of the first reasons we found out why Kgomotso wants to ditch his high school lover is the fact that Refilwe is no longer giving him some. She doesn’t respond to his touch and she never wants to kiss him anymore.
The second reason is that she has been spending more and more time with her male neighbour and smoking the greens with him. Kgomotso had some serious doubts about what was going on behind the scenes after the smoking was done.
She must clean and do everything
Another reason for their split is that Kgomotso is disappointed that she doesn’t clean and do his washing anymore. When Lerato asked him why he couldn’t do his own cleaning he admitted that it’s because she’s the woman and she should be doing all the cleaning.

Two sides to every story
We met Refilwe for the first time and our initial impression was that she seemed like a warm and friendly person with no bad blood. She opened up about the fact that she has always been happy with Kgomotso even though they have some problems.
She admitted that once he starts drinking he becomes violent and abusive, which she has a real issue with.
Nonetheless, she still sees a future between them. She loves the child they have together and overall she seemed like she was in love with her man. Little did she know what was coming next…
Who stabbed who?
When they sat down to talk it basically became a battle between weed and booze. Between an absence of sex, and abuse. There was a lot of back and forth between the two of them as they both pointed fingers but at some point Kgomotso shocked the country when he admitted that she had stabbed him during a fight!
The final word
In the end, Kgomotso pulled the trigger on the relationship, leaving the mother of his child in tears. He believed that if they had had sex in the past year, the relationship would have survived. Refilwe hit back by revealing that she had already broken up with him – talk about turning the tables – and accused him of finding a new woman to move on with already.
This was definitely not the ending that any of us could have predicted but judging from the commotion, and Lerato Mvelase’s shocked reaction, it was probably the best outcome for everyone involved.
