Funinkosi has loved Sibahle since 2006; theirs is a love story that began in the church. But she only accepted his marriage proposal years later, and the love birds finally tied the knot in this latest episode of Our Perfect Wedding!
Nomsa and the team head out to Durban to meet the lovely couple. Nomsa is smitten with the fact that the two fell in love at church.
“Your soulmate could be in church, while you’re praising and worshipping, he could be watching,” says Nomsa, and Funinkosi sure was watching!
“Funi and I have known each other since we were kids. Though we hardly interacted, we knew of each other’s existence,” says Sibahle. This is until her cousin stepped in, and assumed the role of Cupid.
“There was a guy in a pink shirt who liked her and she didn’t even know who he was,” shares the cousin.
The guy in the pink shirt was Funinkosi, and the rest, as they say, is history!
Sibahle’s wishlist was clear and simple – she wanted an elegant and classy wedding, with a white and gold colour scheme.
Welile, who handled the decor, understood the assignment and left little room for disappointment.
“He gave me what I asked for – class and elegance,” says Sibahle.
The menu was another highlight in preparation for their wedding day. The couple thoroughly enjoyed the food, especially the cake.
To our surprise, the couple gave a 10/10 rating across the board. We couldn’t help but wonder what the cake design would look like until we saw it on the wedding day, so there was much suspense.
The big day
The wedding ceremony is an absolute wonder to watch. Sibahle is a vision in virginal white, with a blue cloth adorning her shoulders.
“The blue cloth is from church, it symbolises purity. When you’re a virgin in my church, you wear ‘Isiphika’. So when you get married, you wear it to show that you’re entering marriage a virgin,” explains the bride.
The episode ends on a joyful and emotional note as the newlyweds express words of love and gratitude to each other, their parents and God.
“I thank you Funi for respecting me and the covenant I made with God when I was very young. I made a vow. You came into my life and didn’t derail me from that covenant. You stood by me and helped keep my vow,” says an emotional Sibahle.
