The plot thickens in Mzansi’s most riveting drama series, Mzali Wami.
Ntokozo finally travels to the Eastern Cape to meet her biological father as a means to get clarity about her identity.
Joyce and Ntokozo’s Eastern Cape trip
When they arrive, Ntokozo is introduced to her paternal side of the family and finally meets her biological father, Qiniselo.
In an interesting twist of events, Joyce also meets Limise, the woman who was chosen to be Qiniselo’s second wife and the woman to bear him children – crucially, a son. During that time, Joyce was struggling with infertility, and when she eventually got pregnant, she gave birth to their daughter, Ntokozo, which is not what Qiniselo and his family wanted.
Meeting Limise triggers Joyce as she recalls the poor treatment she received from Qiniselo’s family before and after losing Ntokozo.
“Was Limise not brought here to expand this family with children?” asks Joyce.
The family acknowledges that what they did to Joyce was wrong. Qiniselo further mentions that his marriage to Limise didn’t go as planned because Limise went through two miscarriages.
Ntokozo learns the truth
Qiniselo swallows his pride and apologises to Joyce for accusing her of lying about their baby being stolen. He further apologises for accusing Joyce of having had another stillborn. Qiniselo admits all of this in front of Ntokozo and the rest of his family.
Ntokozo learns that Joyce was telling the truth all along and that it was Sibongile who stole her from Joyce all those years ago. Well played, Joyce!
Sibongile doesn’t want Godfrey anymore
Sibongile is straying further away from her marriage. Her frustration with her marriage intensifies after Ntokozo decides to leave for the Eastern Cape.
She blames Godfrey for allowing Joyce to come and take their one and only daughter. Godfrey tries to remind her how they promised to stick together no matter what. Sibongile insists that without Ntokozo, there’s no future for their marriage. “I told you, there is no future without Ntokozo here.”, says Sibongile.
While Sibongile’s world falls apart, will Ntokozo move to Johannesburg indefinitely to start a new life with her birth mother?
