Mnakwethu: The Reunion once again has the entire nation talking as it has become apparent that there is still a lot of animosity among the men and women who appeared on the show.
The other glaring fact is that some of the men on the show have been lying about their situation at home. They have also not delivered on the promises they made to their wives in previous episodes before the reunion aired.
One lie after another from Ngiga
Ngiga’s situation rocked the boat when he was asked by the host (Linda Sibiya) if everything was okay at home between him and his two wives. Ngiga, with the utmost of confidence, said that his wives were fine and that they were both at home getting along like a house on fire.
However, Ngiga was stopped right on his tracks when Linda mentioned that Nokukhanya (the second wife) was also in the studio. Ngiga became visibly uncomfortable as he did not expect to see Nokukhanya there.
When asked about the situation at home, Nokukhanya shared that things are not going well between her and Ngiga. Nokukhanya shared that she decided to go back home because she saw how visibly upset Ngiga’s first wife (MaKhumalo) was after their episode aired.
The other reason Nokukhanya decided to go back home is that she found out other damning secrets that Ngiga had kept from her.
“I came to learn about new information that I was not privy to after the episode aired. Then I realised that this set-up is not worth it and I could no longer go on with it.
“For example, Ngiga promised me he would build me my own house, and said his first wife and I would only see each other at family gatherings. But seeing her daily in the same household was not the agreement,” said Nokukhanya.
The other reasons Nokukhanya left is because she also found out that Ngiga had a child who passed away and that there’s another woman from Johannesburg he has a child with.
Remember the sangoma wife (Thandeka) who threatened her husband? Well, at home, things are still a bit shaky there.
Thandeka came on the reunion without her husband Siphiwe. Instead, she attended the show with Siphiwe’s girlfriend Zandi.
Thandeka described her husband as an irresponsible coward who has not kept to his word. During their episode, Siphiwe promised to purchase a goat as a peace offering to Thandeka and the ancestors after introducing Zandi – something he still has not done.
It is also not clear if Siphiwe and Thandeka still live together, but he is now engaged to Zandi.
All is well
However, it is not all doom and gloom for other couples. For instance, Magaye and his two wives are living together in harmony and there are no issues in their household.
The same applies to Mthembu and his wives, who have ironed out their differences in the hopes of building a warm and loving home for Mthembu and their kids.
The main consensus from these couples is that the important thing is that they all respect each other and that there are no secrets in the family.
