Mnakwethu: Happily Ever After is proving that things aren’t all rosy for the men of this reality show and their multiple wives.
The various relationships are beginning to disintegrate, and it’s becoming clear that not all of these unions will last.
Magaye and his wives
In the past couple of episodes, things have been going smoothly between Magaye and his women, Ncamsile Mlotshwa and Thempelezi Xulu.
Magaye is working hard at ensuring that both his wives are not only happy but cordial with each other, despite the tension we saw between Ncamsile and Thempelezi a few weeks ago.
Stop calling him after hours
Ncamsile voiced her concerns and irritation towards Thempelezi, who keeps calling Magaye constantly whenever he is with Ncamsile. The first wife saw this as a sign of disrespect and told her husband that Thempelezi’s late-night calls were annoying her.
“I don’t like how she constantly calls you when we’re spending quality time together. She came into the picture knowing very well that you are married. I don’t like that she calls at night, then my husband has to leave the room to answer her calls. I hate it,” says Ncamisile.
Magaye acknowledges her concerns and immediately rectifies the issue. Not only does he request for Themepelezi to stop calling after hours, but he also organises a coffee date for the three of them – an opportunity for Thempelezi to apologise and to assure Ncamsile that she has nothing to worry about. The date goes smoothly and everyone is happy – or so we thought.
The secret she’s kept for over a decade
Thempelezi realises that she has a great and loving man by her side and finally decides to tell Magaye a secret she’s been keeping from him for their whole 12-year relationship.
So, what’s the secret? Well, it turns out that Thempelezi has a child she conceived before meeting Magaye and has been keeping the child a secret from him ever since they began dating.
The secret is weighing heavy on Thempelezi’s mind and she feels it’s time that Magaye learns the truth.
“I’m in love with rubbish”
Thempelezi invites Magaye over and eventually tells her man about the child.
Magaye is first taken aback by the reveal. The surprised reaction soon turns into anger as Magaye tells Thempelezi exactly how he feels. The man did not mince his words.
“Look at me, and listen carefully, girl. You’ve played around with me for too long. You kept this from me for twelve years? You’re busy pressuring me to pay lobola, pay lobola for what? You have secrets, you are a horrible woman!” says Magaye.
Magaye further tells Thempelezi that it’s over between them and leaves her with these words.
“Keep all the things I bought for you. I don’t want them back because I’m breaking up with you. I bought those things in the name of love but it turns out I’m in love with rubbish!”
Thempelezi is left stunned with tears in her eyes.
Could this be the end of the road for the lovers?
