After five great seasons as Kagiso Khoza on Mzansi Magic’s popular telenovela The Queen, Loyiso MacDonald is leaving the telenovela to pursue other endeavours. Although Loyiso has not yet revealed what his plans are, we have no doubt that we’ll see him on our TV screens again soon.
Nomsa Philiso, the Director of Local Entertainment Channels at M-Net had this to say about Loyiso’s exit from the telenovela.
“MacDonald has entertained our viewers over the past five seasons and over the years many of them have fallen in love with his character. As Mzansi Magic, we would like to thank him for his contribution and wish him well in his future plans. It is always sad when a talent leaves a show. However, that is the nature of the business. It also means we are a platform that grows individuals to be more daring and more explorative.”
Loyiso follows a slew of other actors who have left the show in the past year, including Xolani Mayekiso, who was affectionately known as Thato Maake. In 2020, we also saw the unexpected departure of Dineo Langa, who played the role of Kea Khoza, and Connie Chiume, aka TGom.
If you’re an avid Loyiso fan, re-live all of his nailbiting moments on The Queen from Seasons 1-5, all streaming on Showmax.
