If there’s one word we will remember 2020 by (other than pandemic, lockdown, Covivi…) it’s probably “entanglement”. While many of us had never used the word in a sentence before, Jada Pinkett Smith introduced it to describe the series of “interactions” between herself, her husband and her one-time lover.
“What does this have to do with Isono,” you might be asking? Well, this week was dominated by a series of complicated and quite frankly messy love affairs. In short, many of our favourite characters from the BET Africa telenovela have found themselves deeply entangled this week. Let’s take a closer look at how it’s all unravelling.
Makwande and Millicent (featuring Esther)
Makwande and Millicent have been getting closer and closer in recent weeks. The only problem is that the footballer appears to have forgotten that he’s dating Millicent’s best friend, Esther.
While she was away, the two “friends” found themselves getting closer and closer before they eventually kissed and landed up in bed together (even though nothing else happened).
Don’t ask why Millicent decided to take a picture of their cosy moment, but when that snap landed in the wrong hands, it found its way to social media and went viral. Esther, of course, found out and, of course, was not pleased at all. One moment of weakness ruined a perfectly good friendship and a promising relationship.
Abednego and Mamba (featuring Gabriel)
Elsewhere, Gabriel and Abednego might have finally admitted their attraction towards each other but that doesn’t mean they’re officially a couple. In fact, spurred on by Gabriel’s increasingly distant attitude, Abednego has gone and found himself someone else to keep his bed warm: new girl on the scene, Mamba (played by the gorgeous Amanda Du Pont).
The two have been hooking up with no strings attached for the past couple of days and although there’s no feelings between the two of them, you can tell that Gabriel doesn’t really want to keep hearing about their bedroom adventures. Maybe he should be a bit more forthcoming about his feelings?
Simon and Lesedi (featuring Zakwe)
Speaking of being forthcoming about feelings, one person who has suppressed his emotions this whole season so far is Simon. The second in command at the House of Grace simply can’t bring himself to tell Lesedi how he feels about her; worse still, he assumes she’s in love with Zakwe.
The end result is that his suppressed emotions have driven him to the point of jealousy and we all know what men can be like when they get jealous.
Instead of opening up, he’s shut Lesedi out completely and has been mean to her at every turn. He even kicked her out of the band that he and the other children have been working on for the upcoming talent show. Little does he know that she’s planning on stealing the show, but we’ll get to that next week.
Mary and Mncedisi (featuring Abednego)
Last but not least we have Mother Mary and her complicated love life. What? Even sinister, two-faced bosses deserve love too! We’ve known for some time that she and Mncedisi have a thing going on, but after she fumbled the bag and cost them their massive payday from the Swedish embassy, her hunky toy boy decides to find someone else to call his own.
Clearly in need of a replacement Ben 10, Mary decides to plant a seed in another young man’s head. Abednego. Even though she has raised him like a son, it looks as if she wouldn’t completely rule out getting a different kind of love from him. If Gabriel doesn’t like AB’s affair with Mamba, imagine what he’s going to think of this?
Once again we can’t predict what’s about to come – all we know is that we’re anxiously awaiting next week’s round of episodes already!
