Siyacela and Thando shocked many South Africans when they decided to get married when they were teenagers. The young couple, based in KwaZulu-Natal, have been sharing their journey on Moja Love’s Isencane Lengane and it hasn’t been an easy one.
While the show is centred around their love story, Siyacela has become the star of the show… not in a good way! Every week, the young man trends on social media because of the things he says and does. The third season is only on episode 4, but Siyacela has already done and said the most.
Here are some prime examples.
When he called his grandmother stupid
Siyacela has said a lot of disrespectful things about his grandmother. He’s accused her of taking his late mother’s belongings and has also accused her of being a witch.
“My grandmother has taken advantage of me, to be honest. She’s actually stupid. My grandmother is honestly stupid.”
His grandmother is now at a place where she wants nothing to with him. According to her, the only thing that will stop this feud is death.
“The whole nation watched and perceived me as an evil grandmother,” she said, adding that she’s had enough. “I will never set foot there. When I die, he must not set foot here and I won’t go to his house when he dies.”
That time he disappeared
Being married doesn’t mean that you can’t have fun with people outside your marriage. You can still go out and have fun with the boys, but make sure you come back home. Someone needs to give this message to Siyacela. He doesn’t seem to know that having a wife also means having an accountability partner.
When he went to Durban for a few days, he suddenly forgot about his family and also couldn’t be reached on his phone. This obviously didn’t sit well with Thando as she couldn’t understand why he was gone for eight days. The worst thing is that his father was ill at the time and also needed his son by his side.
“Though he’s sick, you can tell that he’s annoyed by the fact that Siyacela is not near him,” Thando said.
When he cheated on Thando
When Siyacela took Thando as a wife, he promised that she would be the only woman in his life. “I have one heart to love her only,” he said at the time. But he seems to have gone back on his word and has started cheating on his young wife.
Siyacela has met a girl that he claims to love. “We love each other, she respects me, and she gives me all the attention,” he said.
MaMbutho is eight years older than him and that doesn’t seem to be a problem for Siyacela. “Love has no age, to be honest… Love is the only thing needed between two people,” he said. Siyacela believes that he and MaMbutho speak the same language when it comes to love.
The strange thing is that Thando knows about her husband’s cheating. “I did say that I love him too, but it was not about me alone. It was something shared between the two of us. I can see that the love is not the same,” she said.
While Siyacela knows how his wife feels about polygamy, he doesn’t seem to care. On several occasions, Thando has made it clear that she would never be in a polygamous marriage. “When you say that you are taking another wife it means you don’t love me anymore,” she told him a while ago.
Now that MaMbutho is in the picture, Siyacela seems to have forgotten all about that conversation. He’s been living his best life in Durban with his side chick and now wants to make her his second wife. He explained that he had previously decided that he would only have one wife, but things have now changed.
He told his new lady about Thando. “She will be your sister-wife. I want the both of you to work together. I don’t want either of you to be jealous,” he told her. Siyacela knows that Thando will not be happy about this and that it will break her heart. “But it will be up to her whether she agrees with what I’m saying or not,” he said.
