Ever since Somizi proposed to Mohale on that romantic night in Paris a year ago, we knew that their white wedding was going to be THE social event of the decade.
On Thursday, 30 January 2020, the couple’s many admirers kept their eyes glued to their socials to get the first glance at South Africa’s first gay celebrity wedding.
As photos of the guests trickled in one by one, the FOMO increased as fans refreshed their feeds for any further images, or, better yet, videos of the couple.
But then Showmax revealed that Somhale’s four-part wedding special would be streaming exclusively on its platform from 24 February 2020.
Which was very welcome news, since no videos from the wedding were forthcoming – all the wedding guests’ cellphones were confiscated and locked away so that no footage could be leaked. Yep, the exclusivity of this wedding was quite intense.
So although we didn’t get to see much of the ceremony, we did manage to get a glimpse of some really special moments and fabulous outfits from the day on these social media streets. Here are some of our favourites.
The first-ever picture of Somizi and Mohale’s outfits.
The gorgeous rings designed by Nungu diamonds.
The red-bottom drip of the guests.
Thando Thabethe dressed by Orapeleng Modutle.
Lerato Kganyago dressed by Gert-Johan Coetzee.
And one of the best moments of them all, Black Coffee surprising the couple after they thought he wasn’t going to attend the most important event of their lives.
Shauwn Mkhize
Durban-based businesswoman and now newly-favourite reality star – Shauwn Mkhize had heads turning (for all the wrong reasons) after posing for the cameras in her outfit. Unfortunately for Mam’Mkhize, her look did not receive the thumbs up from a lot of onlookers on social media.
But like the boss she is, Shauwn took the criticism like a champ.
Remember, the Somhale Union will be available to stream on Showmax from 24 February 2020.
