Bongani and Buhle probably had no idea that they’d be together for this long when they met in 2008. The couple met on a night out and although their relationship started as a one-night stand, they seem to have found more things to love about each other than physical intimacy.
On the latest episode of Finding Bongani Fassie , Buhle explained that she didn’t know him personally before they met. “We slept together on the very first night and it was wild,” she said. Years later, the lovebirds have children and are building a life together. “What I love about her is that she’s my best friend. She’s such a wonderful mom to the children,” Bongani shared.
In love with two women
Just like in any other relationship, their path hasn’t always been smooth. Buhle revealed that Bongani was in love with two women when they first got together.
“I went to my aunt and I told her that I loved Bongani, but there was something I felt. I thought there was something wrong because when he’s with me, he’s fully happy. But then as soon as Sane [the other woman] calls him, Bongani will begin to panic and shiver.”
She said her aunt told them to go and see a traditional healer. Bongani was cleansed and, according to Buhle, he “vomited out some black little thing.” She implied that the other girlfriend had used muthi on him because she knew that he would be wealthy because of his late mother, Brenda Fassie.
Bongani will always be grateful to Buhle for being in his life. “I became attached to her because everybody else abandoned me, especially after my mom passed. There is no other woman who has made me feel like Buhle,” he said.
Resorting to violence
While they’re happy to be in each other’s lives, the couple are still working hard to get back to find the love they had when they first met. Right now, their relationship could be seen as toxic because they often fight, and it sometimes gets physical.
They had a fight about one of Bongani’s exes on the show. Buhle explained that when Bongani does certain things to her, he needs to understand that she can go 10 times worse.
“So, he knows not to step on those boundaries of speaking to exes because when I do it, it’s a lot worse.” An embarrassed Bongani told a story about how he once painfully slapped his mother. “When Buhle slapped me, it brought back all the emotions that I was going through when I was living with my mother… I just want to say we don’t have to resort to violence.”
He added that he still feels guilty about hitting his mom.
