As much as it’s an expected part of life, death is something that tends to come as a shock to people. Losing a loved one is just one of those things that we never quite get used to, no matter how many times we experience this loss. Bongani and his family showed this on the latest episode of his reality show.
While the Fassie clan is still recovering from losing Brenda over a decade ago, they must now deal with another death in the family. Lindi, who was the late singer’s older sister, sadly passed away in Cape Town. Bongani’s partner Buhle explained that she received an Instagram message from Bongani’s cousin.
Chicco Twala to the rescue
“So, I told Bongs, you know. Obviously, Bongs didn’t handle it well. Then we spoke to the uncle and stuff,” she said. She also shared that they informed Chicco Twala about Lindi’s death and he offered financial assistance. “He helped us out to be able to go down and bury Sis Lindi.”
Bongani added: “And that’s something that’s probably not going to make it to the newspapers… The man does positive things.”
The couple then flew to Cape Town to be with family and make arrangements for the funeral. But before the burial, there was a bit of drama with Uncle Themba. Bongani sent money to the family before he got to the Western Cape and wanted to find out what was done with it.
Uncle Themba has some explaining to do
“I want to find out about things. I need to do my homework, just to touch up here and there to find out what we’re short of, where I can patch, you know,” he said. One relative said they know nothing about what Bongani was talking about as Uncle Themba hadn’t mentioned it to them. She asked him to speak to his uncle.
Bongani explained: “I sent money to the undertaker. And there were some monies that were donated for Aunt Lindi. The problem was, Bhut’ Themba had vanished.”
Everyone was angry and confronted him about receiving R40 000 and not saying a word about it. Themba shared that there are receipts to account for what happened to the money. “Not even a cent came to my hands. Do you hear me? The money was immediately deposited into the funeral parlour’s uhm… do you understand? Chief, for now I’m done,” he said.
Did Uncle Themba dribble his family? We guess we’ll never know for sure. The Fassies decided to move on from that issue and buried Lindi.
“We laid MaLindi to rest and she’s resting in peace. The family is giving counsel to one another,” Bongani said after the funeral.
