Ever since the launch of the first season, Kelly has always made it clear that she values her family very much. Despite all the drama she’s been through, she and her mom, Ntombi, have made progress with fixing their family issues.
Although not everyone is coming to the table to help fix the glaring issues within the family, Kelly and Ntombi have decided to take the high road for the sake of peace.
Resolving issues
In episode 2 of this season, Ntombi revealed that she and her late mother had a rocky relationship. Ntombi admits that she never healed from the lack of love she received from her mother.
What is more shocking is that Ntombi and her kids were never allowed to attend their mother/grandmother’s funeral. Ntombi doesn’t even know where her mother is buried – another heart-breaking fact about their family.
Kelly, Ntombi and Kelly’s aunt then get on a phone call to discuss how they can begin to rectify some of the wrongs that were done in the family.
The three agree that the first step is to go back home to KZN for the gravesite visit.
Home sweet home
Fast forward to episode 11 where mother and daughter arrive safely in the area of Ntinini to prepare for the gravesite visit.
They are welcomed with open arms by Kelly’s aunt, with whom she has been communicating throughout the entire process. While they’re at home, a traditional ceremony is also prepared.
The prepping of the traditional ceremony proves to be a success. However, Kelly and her mom soon discover that there’s a lot that still needs to be fixed in the Khumalo household.
But are the other family members willing to make things right? Only time will tell.
