It’s a known fact that Mndeni has a very soft spot for Sthandwa. He loves her and will do anything to protect her. When he discovered that she had been kidnapped, Mndeni vowed to do everything in his power to rescue her.
Thinking he was in good hands, Mndeni believed Bangizwe when he promised to help him with his mission. However, that was not the best decision, as Vovo pointed out. “See that Bangizwe guy, I don’t trust him. My gut tells me something’s up,” he warned Mndeni.
Mndeni puts himself right in harm’s way
But Mndeni was so desperate to find his dear Sthandwa that he didn’t notice anything strange about Bangizwe. “He’s the only person who can help us get Neli and Sthandwa out of there. We have to have faith,” he told Vovo, adding that they need Bangizwe more than he needs them.
At this point, Mndeni was in such a low place that he was doubting God’s existence.
“Even the ancestors have turned their backs on me. I’ve lost hope,” he said.
While he was pouring his heart out to Vovo, Bangizwe, who was holding Sthandwa hostage, was busy threatening her.
Bangizwe succeeds, and things look bad for Mndeni
“So, you think I’ll take you to Mndeni so you can go off and live happily ever after together? That will never happen,” Bangizwe told her.
He also revealed his plan to get to Mndeni. “I will use you to catch Mndeni so I can get back my job as one of Celemba’s men. What you’re thinking will never happen,” Bangizwe told Sthandwa.
His plan worked, because he got Mndeni to trust him and he fooled him into thinking that he would finally take him to where Sthandwa was.
But when Mndeni arrived, he discovered that he had been played. And just like that, Bangizwe got exactly what he wanted.
“I knew that the easiest way to trap a man is through a woman,” he gloated. Bangizwe then called someone he referred to as “boss” and told him that he had succeeding in trapping Mndeni.
