Reatile Dlamini wrote to Dloz’Lami because she wanted to know what happened to her late father. The Westonaria resident explained that her father passed away under mysterious circumstances. She also shared that her mother died in 2013. “I want to connect with my dad. I want him to tell me what happened. I need answers,” she said.
Fortunately for Reatile, Thembi was able to connect with some of her late family members.
“I’ve got your great-grandmother, I’ve got your mother, I’ve got your father, I’ve got your grandfather here,” she said.
However, things didn’t go as planned. Thembi explained that Reatile’s grandfather refused to allow her father to enter the house. “So that can symbolise that there was no union between your mom and dad.”
Family beef
Reatile was then asked if she’d like to give permission to her father and grandfather to enter the house to explain what happened. When they got to the house, they spoke about a couple of things. Reatile got a chance to explain the complexity of her maternal and paternal family’s relationship.
“For a long time, sis Thembi, my paternal family and maternal family didn’t have a good relationship. I don’t know what the beef was, I don’t know what was happening. Apparently, it started way back, they didn’t even do things right for my mother,” she shared.
After that explanation, her grandfather spoke through Thembi and said he wouldn’t allow her father to enter because things weren’t done the right way when all of them were still alive. “If you want to speak to your paternal family, do so elsewhere,” the grandfather said.
Starting on a clean slate
There was only one solution for Reatile and her older sister. They were asked to write letters to their late father in order to communicate with him. “In this letter, I seek you to tell me whether you have forgiven me or not,” the father said, speaking through Thembi.
Thembi explained that the letter was very powerful because it sent out a message as their father was not allowed to enter. “You need to express yourselves in this letter,” the medium told the siblings. The next step was to read the letters out loud, and this was followed by a message from their father.
He told them that his life changed after their mother passed away. “Now, as a man I couldn’t carry on with life alone, could I? I paid half of the lobola; my intentions were to marry her.”
He also answered their most important question by revealing that he had died due to a blood-related illness and wasn’t poisoned.
He asked for a fresh start and reassured his children that he and their mother were in a good space in the spiritual realm.
