DiepCity is a new crime thriller with a gripping storyline that exposes the lived realities of so many South Africans, of poverty and crime. The most exciting thing about the show is its insanely talented cast members.
Nozuko Ncayiyane plays Nokuthula aka Nox.
Here are a few fun facts about the 27-year-old actress.
Hometown
Nozuko hails from Port Shepstone, in the south coast of KwaZulu-Natal. She says she has wanted to act from a very young age.
Early career
She initially kick-started her career in community theatre around 2013. She starred in Talking Spirits at The Playhouse in Durban and Anti Christ at the Baxter Theatre in Cape Town, and had a leading role in Sugary Spice, which ran at the Olive Tree and Stable Theatre in 2014.
Television career
She debuted on screen on a recurring role as Ayanda in the SABC1 youth soapie Skeem Saam, first appearing in Season 4, and continued in the role in Season 5. She played a love interest of Jama (portrayed by Oros Mampofu).
One of the acting roles that brought her into the limelight was as Phindile on the eTV hit soapie Scandal! She also played the recurring role of Lumka in the Mzansi Magic drama series Abomama, and, of course, currently plays Nokuthula on the new Mzansi Magic drama series DiepCity.
Education and social activism
Nozuko studied Education at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. She also enjoys public speaking, network marketing, and event hosting. She teaches through “purpose and Identity”, where she helps young people get into acting and to become the best version of themselves, elevating their minds through method acting techniques.
Friendship and interests
She is friends with actress Natasha Thahane – they starred alongside each other on Skeem Saam. Her favourite shows are Norla Darling, directed by Spike Lee, and The River on 1Magic.
