Our bachelor tonight was Thabang, a 29-year-old who’s looking for someone because he is bored. He’s a DJ, an events organizer, and owns a hubbly-renting business. He wants a lady to take to his mom in Limpopo. Does he know that Joburg girls aren’t about that life?
Pastor’s kids are said to be corrupt
Bachelorette number one, Reginah, is represented by her sister Monica, her friend Karabo and a colleague. Before they could even sit and have a conversation with the bachelor, Karabo immediately wrote him off saying, “he’s not gonna make the cut, I’m sorry.” We know a gatekeeper when we see one.
Then again, the polo-neck Thabang was wearing sure made him lose a lot of brownie points. Despite Karabo’s judgmental attitude, the sister and colleague gave him a pleasant welcome.
Reginah was excited about the fact that they are both from Limpopo and both come from a church background. The fact that Reginah is said to be a bit taller than Thabang almost became a problem but ultimately didn’t change Reginah’s mind.
When Thabang mentioned he’s a pastor’s kid, they immediately exclaimed, “PK’s are corrupt!”
This friend forgot who the date was for
In the second date, with bachelorette Rebecca’s friends and family, Thabang continued with his slant of asking for water before starting the conversation. Rebecca’s friend Lerato didn’t like this and immediately became mean towards Thabang.
It became clear that she doesn’t think that Thabang is good enough for her friend. Not only was she and the rest of the squad rude to Thabang, they also made it difficult for him to know the type of person Rebecca is.
She seemed to forget that the date is for Rebecca, not for her. We knew from here that this was not gonna be the one for Thabang.
Not the kind of woman on top he expected
Thabang came to the third date excited as he was promised “woman on top”, but his first disappointment on this date was that Gugulethu’s mother was also present. This made things very awkward for him as he had to be conscious of everything he said. Still, the date went pretty well.
The friends asked the right questions but Gugulethu wasn’t impressed with the fact that Thabang is Pedi. Apparently, Pedi men are known to be mama’s boys and that doesn’t sit well with Gugulethu.
Gosh, dating these days is such an extreme sport – you get crucified for being a part of a certain ethnic group.
Anyway, our favourite moment of this date was when Thabang got served the “woman on top” special. It’s safe to say we were as disappointed when we finally saw it as Thabang was!
Thabang ended up choosing Reginah from the first family. The two got along like a house on fire – from the compliments they gave each other to the jokes they shared, the two were just a perfect match. If we didn’t know any better we’d swear that these two had crossed paths before.
Thabang sealed the deal by getting a yes for a second date. Reginah enjoyed the date so much that she even thanked the dating show for hooking her up with a potential bae. Hopefully the second date will be the start of a bright future for the couple.
