This past episode of Date My Family was an extremely romantic affair, not least of all because it aired on Valentine’s Day! Love was truly in the air and we hoped that Lebohang, a 28-year-old digital manager, would feel it too. We met the young bachelor who was on the hunt for love this week, looking for a woman who was kind-hearted with a lot of love to give.
He met the three families representing Mbali, Thandeka and Puseletso. As usual, this episode of Date My Family had the timeline buzzing, not least of all because of the antics of some of the family members!
The worst friends we have ever seen
Thandeka had every shot at love, you know. She was friendly, she was loveable and we think that she could have really made Lebohang a happy person – the only problem is that her family represented her badly!
First and foremost, it looked as if her friend might have a crush on Lebohang as she kept asking questions for her own interest rather than for Thandeka’s. Even when it was time for Lebohang to go home, she gave him a really long and deep hug which didn’t seem appropriate in the circumstances.
In fact, neither of Thandeka’s friends impressed the Twitter faithful because the other one appeared to be a bit, um, buzzed if we can say that…
This was an important lesson to choose people who will represent you well on this here show!
Bomba shows how it’s supposed to be done
From a lesson on how not to represent your friends, we then got a thorough demonstration of how best to win your buddy a date through the loveable Bomba, who stole our hearts from the beginning. There was no conflict of interests here – instead, Bomba was solely focused on making sure that his homie Mbali walked away with a new man.
As well as that, he might have just scored himself some free PR in the process because Mzansi absolutely adores his energy and his personality. Bomba’s humour, his sassiness and his clever replies when it came to fielding questions made him one of the most legendary friends/family members from recent Date My Family history, and arguably the most popular of this season so far.
Simply put, Bomba looks like a vibe and it’s no surprise that his contributions seriously influenced Lebohang’s decision.
Lebohang takes Mbali on their first date
In the end, we were all thrilled to see Lebo choose Mbali (dankie, Bomba!) because the pair made a genuinely cute couple. Social media was in love with Mbali’s beautiful features from the get go and the moment Lebo laid eyes on her for the first time, he could tell he made the right decision.
Their date was uneventful – in a good way! There was no drama to worry about, nothing blew up badly and the little bits of awkwardness were worked through with little fuss. If anybody could make us believe in love, it’s definitely these two. It was no surprise that they were both keen on a second date!
Date My Family Season 8 is available to stream on DStv online until 14 March 2021. Seasons 1-5 are available to stream on Showmax.
