This week Date My Family goes back to normal programming. For a couple of weeks, the show took a slight twist to the format and had well-known comedians/media personalities reacting to recent episodes.
Although some may have liked the new format, other viewers are glad things have gone back to normal again.
The bachelor
Keketso is a 30-year-old musician and a general manager of a record label. He’s looking for an open-minded woman and to our surprise, looks don’t mean much to him.
“What I’ve come to notice is that looks only matter for about an hour. if the connection is not there, then it’s pointless.”
A proud vegan
Keketso sure is full of surprises. While visiting Thabang’s family he suddenly mentions that he is vegan. Although there is nothing wrong with the healthy lifestyle he has chosen, it would’ve been polite to inform the producers of the show about his dietary requirements.
So you can imagine how astonished Thabang’s family was after preparing him a non-vegan plate. It was also very awkward how they tried to coerce him into eating meat.
Well, at least he ate the salad.
Poor dress code
Unfortunately, for all three of his dates, Keketso put little effort into his attire. All-Stars, jeans and a t-shirt hardly make a good first impression on a dinner date.
Thabang’s cousin was not impressed at all with our bachelor’s dress sense. He thinks Keketso could’ve put in more of an effort, and we agree.
Meat: no, church: no, weed: yes!
From his experience with Thabang’s family, Keketso made sure that he informed the next family from the get-go that he doesn’t eat meat. It was kind of pointless because the family had already prepared a non-vegan meal for him.
As expected, Itumeleng’s family looks puzzled as he attempts to explain why he is vegan.
The conversation with the second family gets even more awkward when Keketso admits that he does not attend church.
“My opinions on church changed when I began reading a lot of material. And then I began looking at things from a different perspective,” says Keketso.
He made the situation worse for himself when he mentioned that he smokes weed. Itumeleng’s mother did not like that at all.
It becomes evident that Itumeleng would not be an ideal partner for Keketso.
Wait, is he really a vegan?
Relebogile’s friends welcomed Keketso with warmth and kindness. Relebogile feels like the guy is a lot of things that she wouldn’t go for in a man, however, she’s willing to try things out.
She likes the fact that he’s well-spoken and enlightened. They all got a bit sceptical when he mentions that he’s a rapper. She is willing to overlook that fact and take the plunge, knowing that they might meet each other halfway and work on it.
When he mentions that he is vegan, the family is not surprised but very understanding of his lifestyle choice.
What we found funny is that he then admits that when he is hanging with his friends at a braai, he does dig into boerewors every now and then.
Relebogile’s friends laugh and then label him as a fashionable vegan.
Living with his family: not a red flag for Relebogile
The fact that he still stays with his family was a shock to Relebogile but after hearing how he wants to save up to buy a house, she warms to the idea of knowing him better.
Keketso ends up choosing Relebogile. And what a perfect date this turns out to be. The conversation was flowing and the two seem to enjoy each other’s company.
Although Relebogile thought that Keketso wasn’t the type of guy she’d go for, he gave her a few things to be impressed about.
Do we sense a second date coming up?
