It’s the South African spin-off of UK series Farmer Wants a Wife and literally, a farmer is searching for a wife. The single ladies who want to be Mrs Farmer then write him letters, attempting to pique his interest.
For the first time, one of the farmers looking for love is gay and there’s a new presenter too, well-known singer Leah. Season 12 started on 17 October 2019 on kykNET. The latest season, as well as previous seasons, are available to stream on Showmax.
“I love meeting the farmers and spending time with them,” says host Leah. They are all so passionate about farming and it’s a pleasure to see how proud they are of what they do! I have immense respect for them. And, of course, if they find love, it’s the cherry on top.”
Boer Soek ’n Vrou is a light-hearted, sweet and fun dating show. There’s no backstabbing and drama between the contestants chosen as the potential Vrou, although they’ll probably have to prove that they’re not afraid of driving tractors and ploughing fields to help sow the seeds of love.
