The latest season of Umndeni has been entertainment galore. The hit reality show has certainly given viewers top-notch content – from cheating scandals to physical fights and some serious conversations about identity and spirituality.
This season, the drama was on another level and we’re taking a look at some of the most shocking moments.
Vusi’s wife slaps him after he comes out
For years, Vusi has been deceiving his wife, Alina, about who he really is. He eventually got the courage to come clean and tell her about his affair with Mkhulu. When Alina heard the confession, she told him: “I thought I was in love with a man, but you’re a woman.”
She added that Vusi didn’t wear panties or wigs. “There was no sign of him being gay. Now I have children with him.”
She was so shocked that slapped him across the face, something she had never done before, according to Vusi. Despite Alina’s reaction, Vusi had the following to say: “I feel it’s good to tell her so that she knows. So that she knows who I really am.”
When she asked him to choose between her and Mkhulu, Vusi made it clear that there’s no way he could do that.
“You’re still my wife even if I am gay. I am just telling you so that you know when I am at the other house, I’m gay. At home, I am your husband.”
Alina was in disbelief and brought up the fact that there was a rumour about Vusi sleeping with Mkhulu a few years ago but that he denied it when she confronted him. “I will not stand for this,” she added.
Maseko accuses Nkanyezi of sleeping around, demands a DNA test
Nkanyezi didn’t get the reaction she was hoping for when she told Maseko about her pregnancy. “I am not happy,” he said after she gave him the pregnancy test. “But I just recently fetched you from your home. Were you already pregnant when I fetched you?”
He accused her of galivanting when he’s not around. “Now you want me to take responsibility for a baby that is not mine.” He added: “Nkanyezi has been gone for a long time. Who knows what she was doing wherever she was?”
Maseko showed Nkanyezi pictures that have been circulating of her hanging out with other men. “When you are a woman, you cannot be friends with a man.”
Peter’s wife asks for a divorce
Peter eventually got tired of living a lie, so he called his wife have a chat about his sexuality. He told Elsie that he’s been gay since he was a child. “Until I met you, I was going up and down with men.”
He also told her the truth about why he really married her. “The reason I married you is because I can’t lead a congregation without a wife. My reason for marrying you was no big secret,” he said.
Elsie didn’t seem surprised and said she’d been waiting for him to come out. “What I have been praying and asking my ancestors for is finally happening today.”
Although she had her suspicions, the news still hurt her. “My dignity is gone. You have cheated on me enough. I have anger.” She then asked for a divorce so that she can be free.
“He approached me so he must initiate the divorce,” Elsie said.
Maseko caught cheating
Nothing stays hidden forever! Maseko’s secret eventually came out and his wives were livid. They discovered that their husband has been seeing someone else behind their backs. “I can feel that our husband is with someone wherever he is. He did not sleep at home,” Nkanyezi said.
However, Dabula wasn’t completely sold on this story. “I don’t know those foolish things that they are talking about. If he wants someone, or he wants a partner, he must tell us,” she said. The wives made a decision to go and look for their husband and they found all the evidence they needed.
Maseko was caught in bed with another woman and his wives went straight into attack mode.
“I can’t believe what I am seeing with my eyes,” Mahlalaentabeni said.
She was even concerned about the possibility of Maseko’s side chick leaving muthi on her bed. “Then where does this put me and the child?”
Maseko could only say the following: “This is a problem. I wanted to introduce her properly, not in this chaotic manner. Now things are bad.”
He apologised to his wives and told them he made a mistake. “I won’t do it again.”
